The Port of Algeciras strengthens its ties with Mexico in a trade mission

The Port of Algeciras, in collaboration with the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, the Andalusian Trade Agency and the Port Community (COMPORT), is on a trade mission to Mexico with the aim of strengthening economic and commercial ties between both countries. .

A large business and institutional delegation, made up of representatives of the Port of Algeciras, the Chamber of Commerce and various companies in the region, has traveled to Mexico to participate in a series of B2B meetings with Mexican importers and exporters.

 

Last Monday and Tuesday, a Logistics Forum in which the Port of Algeciras had the opportunity to present its offer as a leading port hub in the Summer and main entrance door for goods to Europe from America.

 

The highlight of the forum was the signing of an important collaboration agreement between the Association of Freight Forwarders of the Bay of Algeciras (ATEIA-Oltra) and the Mexican Association of Freight Agents (AMACARGA), signed by the presidents of both entities, Manuel Cózar and Juan Pablo Pacheco, respectively. This agreement seeks to enhance the commercial relationship between both countries and facilitate the exchange of goods between Mexico and Europe.

 

Today, Mexico is the 8th trading partner of the Port of Algeciras, with a growth of 14% in the last year. For this reason, the Algeciras delegation will also visit today the port of Veracruz, with which it maintains a direct maritime line. There, various work meetings will be held with port authorities and representatives of the Mexican business sector.

 

Authorities at the Port of Algeciras have expressed optimism about the future of trade relations with Mexico.Mexico is a strategic market for us "And we are confident that this trade mission will help us to further consolidate our position as a leading port hub for trade between Europe and Latin America," said the President of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras, Gerardo Landaluce.

 

In addition to the Bahía de Algeciras Port Authority and the Chamber of Commerce, the companies ECS 360, Logístika 360, Comercio Exterior Souto, Operinter Andalucía, Zener Marine Elevator, FS Shipping and Eshipping Containers participate in the Mission.

 

Olive and sunflower oil, stone fruit, automotive components, wood, preserves and chemical products are the main products exported from Algeciras to Mexico. For its part, imports from Mexico include metals, automotive components and avocados.

 

The commercial mission of the Port of Algeciras to Mexico is part of the port's strategy to diversify your markets and consolidate itself as a leading port hub in the Mediterranean.
