El Port of Cartagena prepares to stand out in the Berlin Fruit Logistics Fair, from 5 to 7 February, following an impressive 19% growth in fruit and vegetable product traffic in 2024, reaching 104.207 tonnes. This significant increase, driven by a total movement of more than 4.3 million tonnes of agricultural, livestock and food goods, positions the port as a benchmark in the Spanish port system.
APC Chairman, Pedro Pablo Hernandez, said: “These figures have allowed us to close the year with the largest volume of perishable products in the last six years and encourages us to continue growing in maritime trafficboth in exporting as in import".
The port has a Horticultural Terminal state-of-the-art, with a 405-metre dock and 11,25-metre draft, high-capacity cranes and specialised cold storage facilities. In addition, the upcoming opening of the new Border Inspection Post (PIF), With an investment of 6,1 million euros, it will further strengthen the port's efficiency and competitiveness.
Direct weekly connections with Africa and other parts of the world, through leading maritime operators, consolidate the Port of Cartagena as a key hub in international fruit and vegetable trade. Its participation in Fruit Logística, together with the regional government and other entities in the sector, seeks to strengthen its leadership and attract new business opportunities.
