This operation, carried out through the ship Chiloe Island from the terminal of Noatum on the dock of Raos, represents new traffic for the port and reinforces its position as an important hub maritime trade.
This shipment is in addition to the one made in December by the ship Al Dhafra, which transported 54.000 tons of aggregates to the port of Brownsville, Texas, thus consolidating the presence of the Port of Santander at the international market of aggregates for construction.
The president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), Cesar DiazDíaz highlighted the importance of this operation as an example of the diversification of goods the port is experiencing. "This strategy allows us to ensure diversification, increases our competitiveness, and leads us to be one of the most efficient and sustainable ports on the Cantabrian coast," Díaz stated.
The president of the APS also highlighted the trust placed in the port and its port community to carry out these operations, as well as the terminalisation process being carried out at the Port of Santander, which guarantees the highest standards of productivity and performance.
The load of aggregates loaded on the Chiloe Island comes from the quarry «Lucia Mining Group"To Quarries and Concrete Santander, SLU (HORMISA), Located in Arce – Piélagos (Cantabria), which demonstrates the port's connection with local industry and its contribution to the region's economic development.
