The Port of Santander stands out in Breakbulk for its excellence in handling large cargo

Meetings with key players in the sector

The Port Authority of Santander (APS) has taken advantage of the Breakbulk Europe Rotterdam fair, the most important in the world in terms of breakbulk and project cargo, to position the Cantabrian port as a benchmark in the handling of large traffic.

During the fair, held from May 21 to 24 in Rotterdam, two experts in ro-ro cargo from the APS, Marcelino Tricio and Guillermo Ortíz, held meetings with shipping companies, ports from other countries and operators such as Marítima Dávila, Pérez y CÍA, Bergé, Wallenius Wilhelmsen or Dreyfus. The objective of these meetings was to publicize the infrastructure and specialized services of the Port of Santander for this type of traffic and explore the possibilities of establishing new routes and synergies.

First level infrastructure and services: At Breakbulk, APS has highlighted its extensive experience in handling project cargo, which due to its dimensions or characteristics requires special treatment.

The importance of project loading: This type of cargo is becoming increasingly important in the Port of Santander, especially with regard to metal structures, wind blades and off-shore platforms.
