The commissioning of 170 additional linear meters of platform at Muelle Raos 3 marks a milestone for the internationalization and foreign business of Cantabria. The work, carried out by the joint venture formed by European Engineering and Civil Works, SL and Soundings, Injections and Special Works, SA, and financed by the APS with 2.489.365 Euros, extends the existing rails for gantry cranes, essential for loading and unloading containers.
The president of the APS, Cesar Diaz, highlighted the direct impact of this action: “With this investment we have doubled the performance capacity of this dock and given immediate response to the demands of our customers”. He explained that the new infrastructure “This means that from now on, two vessels can operate simultaneously at the Boluda container terminal.”, which translates into a reduction in transit times by seven days and an optimization of storage in the field.

Allowing us to operate two vessels simultaneously, as is the case today, a Boluda Lines vessel and a vessel from our partner Samskip, reducing transit times by 7 days for Northern European traffic with Cadiz, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde and Senegal".
The inauguration was also attended by the Government delegate, Pedro Casares, and the Ministers of Industry and Development of the Government of Cantabria. The Minister of Industry, Employment, Innovation and Employment, Eduardo Arasti, put into value the exponential growth of container traffic, which in 2024 reached almost 150.000 containers (an increase of 161,1% compared to the previous year), moving 1.360.643 tons and placing Santander in 11th place in the ranking of Spanish ports.
