At an event held in Madrid, King Felipe VI presided over the celebration of the fortieth anniversary of GMV, a company that has established itself as a leader in technological innovation since its founding in 1984. The company is recognised as the leading independent Spanish company in the space sector in terms of number of employees and occupies a prominent position at European and global level.
Accompanied by Sara Aagesen Muñoz, Third Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Her Majesty was received by Monica Martinez Walter, president of GMV, together with the mayor of Tres Cantos, Jesus Moreno Garcia, among other executives. In his speech, Martínez Walter highlighted: "Your presence, Your Majesty, is a source of inspiration for us.", underlining GMV’s continued commitment to a sustainable future.
During his tour of the facilities, the King learned about key projects such as the control centers satellite and advanced defense programs. He also visited the room that replicates the operational center of the Galileo system and attended demonstrations on space robotics applied to both interplanetary missions and critical terrestrial operations.
The monarch took the opportunity to speak with young engineers about the importance of technological innovation for Spain. Finally, he signed the Book of Honour and posed for a photograph with employees, thus closing an emotional event that celebrated four successful decades for GMV.
The King's dedication concluded by congratulating "to everyone for this growing success", highlighting how Spain can lead global technological advances.
