Azkar recently inaugurated its new logistics platform, developed on a plot of 51.685 m², located in the Amorebieta Industrial Estate (Vizcaya), a province where the logistics operator already had two other platforms, in Usánsolo and Trápaga, and a distribution center at Bilbao Airport.
In this initial phase, 12.835 m² have been constructed, divided into 12,347 m² for the operations area and 488 m² for services, facilities, and offices. This is all within the 37.000 m² of developed land. The remaining available area will be reserved for future expansion. The total investment, including construction and equipment, amounts to €5,5 million.
The platform has 29 berths, 17 for heavy vehicles and 12 for light vehicles, and will initially focus its service on meeting the needs of clients in the industrial, food, and appliance sectors. It is expected to handle 120.000 delivery notes in 2007, thanks to a team of 200 professionals and a fleet of 20 vehicles. With this platform, Azkar aims to guarantee comprehensive distribution throughout northern Spain, specifically the Basque Country, Burgos, Cantabria, Navarre, and La Rioja. Furthermore, it is a strategic location, situated just one hour by truck from the San Sebastián International Platform, the hub for the operator's European routes.
