The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of Spain, Óscar Puente, has inaugurated the 2024 edition of the SIL, the international reference fair in the field of logistics, transportation, intralogistics and Supply Chain, Organized by the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB). The event, which brings together the entire supply chain until June 7 at the Fira de Barcelona, presents a hopeful outlook for the sector, marked by innovation, digitalization and public-private collaboration.
During your speech, Bridge has pointed out that the SIL is a crucial tool that demonstrates the potential of Barcelona and Spain in the logistics industry at a global level. He emphasized the importance of decarbonization of the sector, highlighting that the development of a green supply chain is a fundamental objective. In this sense, the Mediterranean Corridor, with 70% of its route already completed or in progress, will be a key element for the global industrial revolution.
The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, has pointed out the importance of SIL as a platform to project the city to the global level. He highlighted Barcelona's commitment to economic diversification, innovation and emissions reduction, with last mile projects to facilitate the transport of goods without affecting urban life.
For her part, the Minister of Territory of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Esther Capella, has highlighted the vital role of companies and organizations in the logistics sector, and the commitment of the Generalitat to the development of the logistics chain as a strategic element for the country's positioning in the international market.
SIL 2024 is consolidated as a reference event for the global logistics industry, offering a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge, innovation and collaboration between companies, institutions and professionals in the sector.
Innovation and digitalization at SIL 2024
This new edition of SIL Barcelona will be marked by innovation and digitalization, presenting the latest technological solutions applied to logistics. The 650 participating companies exhibit 176 new products in a world exclusive, reaffirming SIL as one of the largest fairs in the sector. In addition, it has the presence of 120 startups, the largest participation of emerging companies in the history of the event.
Networking and shared knowledge at SIL
SIL Barcelona is also a key event for networking, with a complete agenda of more than 150 events organized by participating companies and an extensive SIL International Knowledge program, which will feature the participation of 320 top-level speakers.
Autonomous Communities: showing their logistical potential
In order to publicize the logistics potential of Spain, SIL 2024 has one of the largest participation from Autonomous Communities in its history. Aragon, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Euskadi, Extremadura, Galicia and the Region of Murcia are present with a notable participation, showing their logistical capabilities.
MedaLogistics Week: celebrating 20 years of union between continents
Within the framework of the SIL, the Mediterranean Logistics & Transport Week 2024 (MedaLogistics Week Barcelona 2024) has also been inaugurated, the reference logistics summit for Europe, Asia and Africa organized by the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce (ASCAME) and the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB). This edition, which celebrates its 20th anniversary, focuses on uniting the three continents through the Mediterranean and logistics.
The Logistics Night: recognizing excellence in the sector
Tonight, at the Torre Melina Hotel in Barcelona, La Nit de la Logística will take place, the sector's grand gala dinner where the SIL 2024 Awards will be presented. These awards reward the best young talent and reskilling projects, SDG 5 in the logistics sector, the best startup and the best innovation presented at the SIL among the 650 participating companies.
