International air traffic in Spain will break records in July 2025.

 

This milestone is not an isolated event, as the cumulative number of arrivals between January and July reached 63,7 million, 6% more than the same period in 2024.

 

Growth in source markets and diversification

 

The boom in tourism is largely due to the strength of traditional source markets and the significant diversification into new regions. United Kingdom continues to lead with 2,7 million passengers in July, representing 23,1% of the total. Its favorite destinations were Balearic and Canary Islands, although regions such as Galicia and Andalusia showed the highest year-on-year growth, above 10%.

 

For its part, Germany, , although with a slight decline of 0,6% in July, remains the second largest market with 1,6 million passengers. Meanwhile, Italy and France contributed 1,1 million and 7,4% of total arrivals, respectively, with increases that benefited communities such as Community of Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Country.

 

The United Kingdom continues to lead with 2,7 million passengers in July, representing 23,1% of the total.

 

The market diversification strategy is bearing fruit. The data from Turespaña Highlighting Japan's recovery and notable increases in passenger arrivals from China, South Korea, Türkiye and ColombiaA clear indication that Spain is consolidating its position as a global destination.

 

The autonomous communities and airports that benefited the most

 

In July, six autonomous communities accounted for 97% of total arrivals: Community of Madrid, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Andalusia, and the Valencian CommunityOf all these, the Valencian Community experienced the greatest year-on-year growth, with 8,2% more arrivals.

 

Regarding airport infrastructure, the airport of Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas was the busiest, receiving 2,2 million international passengers. Closely followed by the airport of Barcelona, with 2 million passengers, and Palma, with 1,8 million. However, the airport of Alicante took home the award for the highest year-on-year growth, with an impressive 8,3% increase compared to July last year.
