Six prominent Asturian companies, in collaboration with the Principality of Asturias Foreign Promotion Society (Asturex), concluded a successful trade mission to Sweden, Norway and FinlandThis initiative, which took place between May 19 and 23, sought to Strengthen the international presence of the metal and construction sector Asturian, exploring new business opportunities in strategic Nordic markets for its high technological level and commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The delegation was made up of Mecainsa Metalmecanica, Normagrup Technology, Proyectos Ingeniería y Mecanizaciones, AEOP Consult, Nortemecanica, and the Port Authority of Gijón. During the five-day mission, numerous business meetings were held with companies, industry entities, and local port authorities, with the aim of highlighting Asturias' potential as a region producing goods and services in the value chains of the metal, construction, and auxiliary sectors.
The initiative was part of the Metal Sector Promotion Plan, which includes visits to nine countries, two international fairs, and a business forum.
This activity is part of the ambitious Asturex's metal business promotion plan for 2025, a society of Sekuens Group Dedicated to supporting the internationalization of Asturian companies. This comprehensive program includes, in addition to this mission, two visits to international trade fairs, four trade missions to eight additional countries, a sector forum, and a reverse mission.
The Nordic countries represent a market of great interest to Asturian companies, especially in areas such as machinery and industrial automation, renewable energy, manufacturing of components for the transport industry, and sustainable construction. Asturias' trade relationship with these countries is solid, having recorded significant exports in 2024: €49,8 million to Sweden, €27,6 million to Norway, and nearly €25 million to Finland, which underlines the importance of these new alliances.
