Spanish companies increase their competitiveness by adapting to European AI and the Alia Model

 

The day organized by the CEOE Aragón Digital Economy Commission demonstrated the growing interest of the Aragonese SMEs in AI, with more than one hundred attendees present.

 

Beatriz CalvoThe Commission's president emphasized the need to overcome the fear of AI and explore its applications and benefits. "It's important that we lose our fear of AI and that, by learning about its applications and returns at events like this, more companies are encouraged to start using it," Calvo stated.

 

Seven companies presented their success stories in implementing AI in various fields:

  • Inycom: He presented Vekai, a tool for optimizing the management of unstructured information, which increases the productivity of professionals.
  • Integrates: He shared his development of semantic search, used in the publishing, investment, and tourism sectors.
  • CIRCE Technological Center and Technological Institute of Aragon: They presented their predictions for consumption, surpluses, and efficiency for the energy sector.
  • Fidelity for Net: Developed a specific tool for car dealerships.
  • Pajares R&C: He demonstrated how to apply AI in the legal and legal field.
  • Amazon Web Services: He presented success stories in healthcare, document management, and process optimization.

 

In addition to business cases, the national AI strategy was discussed. Alberto Gago, Director of the Office for Digital Spain 2030 and InternationalizationShe explained the "sandbox" for companies to test AI without large investments and the development of the Alia Model. "We are working very hard to ensure that Spain does not fall behind in the adoption of AI, that we subscribe to everything coming from Europe, and that we have regulations that protect information security and privacy," Beatriz Calvo pointed out.

 

El Model Alia, developed by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center In collaboration with IBM, seeks to adapt to the linguistic and cultural richness of Spain. Open-source versions are already available for download.

 

The discussion also covered funding for digital transformation and AI projects, available until June 2026 through the European Recovery Funds. Beatriz Calvo highlighted the positive impact of the Digital Kit and the Consulting Kit for organizing data and facilitating the integration of AI. However, she noted a "certain lag between the application for funding and the implementation of the project by the digitalization agent and the receipt of funds to cover those costs."
