Cartagena technology companies receive advice on obtaining European funding

With advice on the particularities of each startup

The European Business and Innovation Center of Cartagena (Ceeic), with the support of the Development Institute (INFO), has started a round of personalized advice to technology companies in Cartagena with the aim that they can obtain financing of European programs, especially in those focused on technology startups.

In this first round of advice, through bilateral meetings with half a dozen participating companies, the Ceeic and INFO experts have focused the sessions on the European Research and Development, Horizon Europe, in order to adapt the advice to the particularities of each startup through explanations about regulations, administrative formalities, aspects to highlight in the applications, and other elements to optimize participation.

Businesses Fabitive, Blueming Biotech, Arthtopotech, Nanocarbonoids and Secify presented their technological challenges to analyze the financing possibilities within the framework of the calls of the Horizon Europe program. Also the European projects office of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) participated in the round of contacts.

To reinforce support for interested Cartagena companies, Marina Martínez, one of the people in charge of the office of the Technical and Industrial Development Center (CDTI) in Brussels, given that many of the options of the firms that have received advice involve European support programs for innovative emerging companies, with growth capacity, in which this organization is highly specialized.

Horizon Europe is the European Union Research and Innovation Framework Program which has a budget of 95.517 million euros for the period 2021-2027. The program seeks to strengthen the scientific and technological base of the EU, financing solutions that respond to social challenges, particularly related to ecological and digital transitions. It is the European Union's main financing instrument for promoting R&D, from the conception phase to market introduction.

The participation of the Murcia During 2021 and part of 2022 it had a return of 15,7 million euros. The sectors in which participation was most important were digitalization, food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment, health, and energy.

Recently, under the motto 'Connected with Europe', INFO presented its new strategy for the period 2023-2027, which seeks to improve synergies between regional companies, research organizations and universities to increase the transfer of knowledge and multiply transnational cooperation in order to improve the competitiveness of the entire business fabric .
