With more than 20 years of experience behind him in the aviation sector, D. Fernando Candela He is currently president and CEO of the company Iberia Express
Previously, he held the position of director of planning and management control of Air Nostrum, being a key piece in the development of the company. After his passage through Executive Master's Degree in Airport Management and Aeronautics from Madrid, ITAérea makes known his opinion about the postgraduate course and the School.
What was your impression about the master's degree, its methodology and the student profile?
My impression was positive, although I do not know in detail the entire structure of the master's degree. I found the profile of the students interesting, varied, from financial, technical, operational, which can greatly enrich the experience between them and the networking.
¿Do you think there is a development limit in the low cost model? Are there still many milestones to overcome or, on the contrary, are we at the end of a cycle?
I don't know if there is a limit, you can always get marginal improvements, but I consider that it is already a mature sector.
Do you think that the perception of the majority of travelers has changed or is there still some misgivings?
I think consumers know that safety in the air Transport is guaranteed by the aeronautical authorities, is beyond any doubt. I believe that under no circumstances would it be ethical to use security issues as a commercial argument. In aviation everything is regulated and supervised by the national and international authorities.
Finally, he told us about teamwork, coordination and training. With these aspects in mind and as CEO de Iberia Express, What would be the most in-demand profiles and what would you value when hiring?
I believe that profiles with a solid scientific-technical background (engineers, mathematicians) along with management skills (teamwork, empathy) and an attitude of improvement are the profiles most valued by the industry.
