Spain and India seal film alliance: Madhya Pradesh and Spain Film Commission sign historic agreement

The agreement was finalized during an official visit to Spain by Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, who met in Madrid with Juan Manuel Guimerans, President of the Spain Film Commission, and other prominent representatives of the Spanish film industry. The main objective of the meeting was to explore and enhance synergies between the film industries of India and Spain.

The MOU seeks to promote the co-productions between the two countries, promising both creative and commercial benefits. During the meeting, Dr. Yadav extended a formal invitation to Spanish production companies to consider Madhya Pradesh as a filming destination, highlighting the natural diversity of the state, institutional support and an environment conducive to filming. For its part, the Spain Film Commission presented the incentives, aid and resources available in Spain to attract international audiovisual projects.

In addition to co-productions, the delegations discussed the harmonization of film policies to streamline processes and the implementation of joint initiatives such as festivals, workshops and cultural events to strengthen the artistic bond between India and Spain.

A key point of the conversation was cooperation in technical training and skills development, especially in areas such as visual effects, post-production, and scriptwriting. The creation of short programs and educational exchange programs with renowned Spanish film organizations was proposed.

To conclude, it was proposed to organize a “Madhya Pradesh Film Festival” in Spain, with the aim of showcasing the creative talent and unique settings of the Indian region to the international film community. This agreement marks the beginning of a promising phase in the film collaboration, opening new doors to future shared projects between India and Spain.
