El Elcano Royal Institute publishes for another year, and now there are twelve, its annual edition of the collective work that analyzes the perspectives of the international panorama and the short-term challenges for Spanish foreign action. In 2024, the global spotlight falls both on the continuity of the two wars that marked last year and on the different key electoral processes that will decide whether the disruptive Donald Trump go back to Casa Blanca and if the traditional consensus in favor of advancing integration is broken in the European institutions. Spain faces a new legislature with the challenge that internal and external polarization does not destabilize the core of foreign policy and that structural challenges can be addressed: climate, innovation, security, etc.
