Spain promotes the Atlantic Corridor in Galicia with a new working group

El Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has taken a significant step by establishing a working group dedicated to accelerating investments in the Atlantic Corridor in Galicia. This announcement, made by the minister Óscar Puente, seeks to boost the economic and social development of the region by improving key infrastructure. The inaugural meeting was chaired by Jose Antonio Santano, Secretary of State, who highlighted the importance of the project as a driver for intermodality and connectivity in Galicia.

The meeting was attended by the commissioner for the Atlantic Corridor, José Antonio Sebastian, as well as representatives of various administrations who will collaborate on complementary actions. The objective is to coordinate efforts to meet the deadlines established for both the basic network, projected until 2030, and for the global network, whose horizon extends until 2050.

The Master Plan contemplates a total investment of 4.561 millones de euros until 2030. Of this figure, 3.059 million are intended for actions included by the European Union in the basic network, while 1.502 million correspond to projects advanced by the Spanish Government.

Among the most notable actions is the railway connection between the outer and inner port of A Coruña planned for 2026; significant improvements in railway lines such as Vigo Guixar-Monforte-Covas; and cross-border connections such as Guillarei-TuiIn addition, significant investments will be made in the main Galician airports and urban modernisation will take place in key intermodal stations.
