Spain rewards the excellence of its wines

 

The ruling, published in the Official State Bulletin (BOE), highlights the excellence of the wines protected by Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) who have excelled in aspects such as innovation, sustainability and international projection.

 

The best wines of Spain by category

 

A jury composed of experts from the wine sector and representatives of the General Directorate of Food evaluated 23 wineries that had previously stood out in the Bacchus 2025 international competitionThe prizes were distributed as follows:

 

    Best red wineThe award went to Altos de Inurrieta Reserva 2020, from the Navarra winery Inurrieta. This wine from the Navarra DOP was praised for its elegance, its aromas of ripe fruit, and the winery's commitment to sustainability.

 

    Best white wineThe award went to Paco & Lola Prime 2021, from the Arousana Wine Cooperative. This Albariño from the Rías Baixas DOP was recognized for its international reach and the cooperative's commitment to R&D and export.

 

    Best rosé wineDe Casta 2024, by Miguel Torres, took home the award. This wine from the Catalonia PDO, with over half a century of history, is a benchmark in sustainability and social responsibility.

 

    Best sparkling wineThe award went to Gran Reserva Masía SXV Brut Nature 2015, from the Rovellats winery, part of the Cava DOP. This long-aged sparkling wine is praised for its complexity and elegance.

 

    Best fortified wineThe award went to De Alberto Dorado, from Hijos de Alberto Gutiérrez. A Verdejo wine from the Rueda DOP that stands out for its expressiveness and persistence, as well as the winery's respect for tradition and commitment to digitalization.

 

A recognition of the sector's efforts

 

The Spanish Food Awards, held annually since 2013, seek to promote and support the Spanish wine industry. The awards not only celebrate the high quality of the products but also highlight the wineries' commitment to rural development, innovation, and the international visibility of Spanish Food.
