The majestic Royal Opera House Muscat vibrated with the magic of «Memories of the Alhambra» on May 8th and 9th.
With an impressive display of talent, thirty artists took the stage, fusing the passion of flamenco, Arabic melody, and classical elegance. The cast included prominent members of Teatros Flamencos, another division of Artesred, and the renowned Alaa Zouiten Ensemble.
"Memories of the Alhambra" stands as a large-scale production that explores the profound connection between Arab and Andalusian musical cultures through dance, music, and poetry. The emblematic Alhambra of Granada served as a common thread, interweaving historical influences in an artistic dialogue between the past and the present.
Each scene transported the audience to the most emblematic corners of the Nasrid palace, from the serenity of the Patio de los Leones to the beauty of the Patio de los Arrayanes and the lush vegetation of the Generalife GardensThe integration of music, dance and careful narration by Qusai Mansoor enriched the immersive experience.
The artistic direction of this ambitious production was carried out by a team of experts: Antonio Andrade in flamenco musical direction, Alaa Zouiten In Arabic musical direction, flamenco choreographers and dancers Ursula Moreno and José Galvañ, the oud soloist and composer Ziyad Al Harbi, the narrator Qusai Mansoor and the producer Javier Andrade.
This is not the first collaboration between Artesred and the Royal Opera House Muscat. The Spanish production company had already successfully presented «My Flamenco Carmen» in 2021 and "Flamenco Meets Tango" in 2022. On this occasion, "Memories of the Alhambra" It emerged as a direct commission from the Omani Opera, with the vision of bringing this unique show to audiences around the world.
