Exporta 2001, trade fair for export services, in Barcelona

Export Fair

The Exporter Services Fair (Exporta 2001), organized by the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), the Barcelona International Fair (FIB) and the Consorci de Promoció Comercial de Catalunya, will be held between November 21 and 23 of this year at the Montjuïc 2 Fairgrounds in Barcelona.

The Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), an agency attached to the State Secretariat for Trade and Tourism; Fira de Barcelona (FIB) and the Consorci de Promoció Comercial de Catalunya (COPCA), an agency attached to the Departament d'Indústria, Comerç i Turisme de la Generalitat de Catalunya, are organizing the second edition of the Exporter Services Fair, EXPORTA 2001, which will be held from November 21 to 23 at the Montjuïc-2 fairgrounds in Barcelona.

EXPORTA 2001 It will be a meeting point where service companies will offer solutions to internationally focused firms. The increasingly demanding environment in which international trade relations operate, both in exports and foreign investment, makes this fair an essential tool for businesses seeking access to foreign markets.

The exhibiting sectors that will be present include, among others, banking, advisors and consultants, transport and logistics, insurance, communication agencies, information technologies, e-business, business schools, foreign investments, trade fair organizers, travel agencies, marketing and telecommunications.

Visitors to the Export Services Fair, in addition to establishing business contacts, will find a wide range of offerings in the more than 60 workshops that will be held. In a colloquium format, a wide variety of topics affecting export activity will be analyzed in detail, from both a commercial and investment perspective. The workshops will be of three types: country-specific, thematic, and sector-market-specific, with more specialized content. Among the topics to be covered are such engaging subjects as the Internet as a tool for export promotion, financial solutions for international business, brand image and international communication, getting started with exporting, and investment options abroad.
[Img # 45280]Another interesting offering at this fair will be the International Meeting Point, where 40 advisors from Spain's Economic and Commercial Offices abroad, under the Ministry of Economy, will share their experience in these markets and their expertise with businesspeople through individual appointments. This Meeting Point provides Spanish businesspeople with the opportunity to easily learn about international markets and obtain up-to-date information, as the economic and commercial advisors from the various offices have direct and specialized knowledge of different markets and strategic sectors for companies' internationalization. This innovative space debuted last year during EXPORTA 2000, and the experience was a resounding success: more than 1.500 meetings were held with the commercial advisors, making the Meeting Point a window to the world.

In parallel, COPCA will organize the 7th Meeting of Business Promotion Centers, where companies will have the opportunity to meet with the directors of the 36 Business Promotion Centers that the Consorci de Promoció Comercial de Catalunya (Catalan Trade Promotion Consortium) operates worldwide. COPCA's Business Promotion Center (CPN) Meetings will allow business owners to hold one-on-one meetings with experts and analyze the potential of their products in their target markets. Once the feasibility of the projects has been assessed, specific action plans will be developed. This is made possible by the presence of experts in the export destination markets. Since 1994, these Meetings have been attended by 1.700 companies and have facilitated approximately 4.300 meetings, resulting in 400 internationalization projects. These contacts are highly beneficial both for companies starting out in exporting and for those seeking to consolidate their international presence.

EXPORTA 2001 is backed by the great success of the previous edition. The first edition of this trade fair took place from February 17th to 19th, 2000, at the Juan Carlos I Trade Fair Park in Madrid. EXPORTA 2000 featured 196 exhibitors from 41 business sectors, all of whom were very satisfied with their participation; in fact, more than 80% achieved their objectives. The fair was visited by more than 6.000 businesspeople, and 85% rated the event's content very positively, stating that their goals had been met. The training activities also yielded excellent results: more than 5.000 businesspeople participated in the workshops.
