During the days of May 22 to 24, EXPORTA 2002, the third edition of the Exporter Services Fair, was held at the Juan Carlos I Exhibition Park in Madrid.
A fair organized by the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the MADRID FAIR, whose objective is to promote the internationalization of Spanish companies, through the presentation of a wide variety of sectors directly involved in exporting.
EXPORTA 2002 was inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Trade and Tourism, Juan Costa, the Executive Vice President of ICEX, José Manuel Reyero and Fermín Lucas, General Director of the Madrid Fair.
The recently concluded fair featured nearly 150 exhibitors and offered a working environment aimed at facilitating meetings between investors and highly qualified professionals.
Since its inception in 2000, EXPORTA has established itself as an essential reference point for all companies interested in the international expansion of their businesses and investment abroad.
This competition was created with the aim of opening paths for Spanish companies to move around the world.
It was the first fair of its kind held in Spain.
The first editions of this trade fair yielded positive results, both in terms of supply and demand, and the growing number of visitors. This data confirms the need Spanish businesses had to learn firsthand about the services available to them for exporting their products and services. And this is the most tangible reason for the existence of a trade fair like EXPORTA.
Sectors
The fair includes the participation of a wide variety of sectors directly involved in exporting, with competitive proposals and solutions to plan companies' expansion abroad.
In this sense, the fair has showcased a wide range of offerings, from travel and advertising agencies to banking and insurance companies, as well as logistics and transport.
The presence of the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), one of the organizers, made its mark with its colorful stands. These stands hosted meetings with advisors from Spain's Economic Offices abroad.
Another official body present at the fair was the Valencian Institute of Export (IVEX), which was represented by its general director, Carmen de Miguel.
The Valencian Community brought together in a single stand the Council of Chambers of the Valencian Community, the Valencia Trade Fair Centre, the Port Authority of Valencia and the aforementioned IVEX.
Among those present were the Madrid Institute for Development (IMADE), the Andalusian Association of Exporters (CdeA), and EXCAL, Exports of Castilla y León.
Numerous financial institutions, banks, and savings banks were present to inform and support exporting businesses. Banco Sabadell, BBVA, Deutsche Bank, Banco Popular, and Caja Madrid are just a few examples.
The logistics and transport sector was represented by State Ports (Barcelona, Cartagena, Bilbao or Bay of Cadiz), whose stand enjoyed the presence of Fernando Fernández Melle (General Director of Portel), Manuel Carlier de Lavalle (General Director of ANAVE), Jaime Luezas Alvarado (State Ports), José Llorca Ortega (President of State Ports) and José Francisco Vidal (Director of the Short Distance Transport Office).
Other logistics companies present included TNT International Express, DHL International Spain, and Guipuzcoana Euro Express.
Freight forwarders, foreign trade training centers, language schools and translators, quality institutions and companies, and companies dedicated to packaging, decoration and assembly of trade fairs were all present.
Upcoming editions
Following this third edition, the Export Services Fair will return to the Madrid Trade Fair in two years. After its recent run in Barcelona, it is preparing to land at the Valencia Trade Fair Center in a year's time.
EXPORTA 2002 closed its third edition after having had a large business participation, which paints a true picture of this dynamic industry, undoubtedly favored by the Europe of the single currency, the euro.
The third edition of EXPORTA has reflected the effort made by the organizing institutions, which has borne fruit and confirms that companies trust EXPORTA to find answers that guide them on their path towards the internationalization of their businesses.
