Extenda and the Cádiz Naval Maritime Cluster join forces to promote the sector in international markets

A line of collaboration is reaffirmed

The alliance includes the design of brand strategies for the Cádiz naval industry, which increased its sales by 36% in 2020.


The CEO of Extenda, Arturo bernal, and the president of the Naval Maritime Cluster of Cádiz, José Luis García-Zaragoza, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the international promotion of the Cádiz naval industry. With this heading, the objective of optimizing and coordinating their respective resources, programs and activities is pursued, to enhance the presence in the foreign markets a sector that Cadiz led with 3,2 million euros of the total Andalusian exports, of 11,1 million, and an increase of 36% in the last year 2020.

 

[Img # 41925]Through this public-private alliance, both entities will share information related to companies in their field interested in the internationalization process, as well as data about the sector that can serve as a basis for the design of brand or sectoral internationalization strategies. Informative activities such as conferences and seminars will also be carried out jointly; preparation of sectoral studies; and organization of international visits

 

Moreover, Extenda-Andalusia Export and Foreign Investment will make available to the Cádiz Naval Maritime Cluster and its associated firms, its training services, information, consulting programs, and its commercial actions in all markets around the world, including those it covers through its Foreign Network present in 62 markets, and the actions programmed from its geographical areas. for America, Asia-Pacific, Africa-Middle East and Europe.

 

Arturo Bernal, CEO of Extenda, highlighted the importance of the implementation of this agreement, “because of the progress it represents for public-private collaboration, under a common objective, which is to promote national leadership in exports to the naval industry of Cádiz, which is also the leader in Andalusia in this industry.” In addition, he showed Extenda's commitment to continue supporting "a sector that has found in the innovation of its production and marketing processes an ally for its growth, and that faces the challenge of diversifying the destinations of its sales to continue maintaining this increasing rate.”

 

In turn, Bernal stressed the importance of making this agreement with the Cádiz Naval Maritime Cluster, “a leading entity in the sector in Andalusia, which since 2015 has been working non-profit to defend the interests of the sector seeking its continuous improvement.” Thus, “the Cluster currently represents almost 40 Cadiz firms, among which are the main reference companies in the industrial fabric, business associations, University of Cádiz, Junta de Andalucía, town councils and professional associations”.

 

For his part, the president of the Naval Maritime Cluster of Cádiz, José Luis García-Zaragoza, showed its satisfaction for strengthening ties with Extenda by signing this agreement, which “reaffirms the line of collaboration in which it has been working successfully in recent years.” In this sense, he has highlighted actions such as the one currently being carried out to put companies in the sector in contact with the Italian shipyard Fincantieri.

 

Extenda: digitization and diversification of markets

 

Extenda, as a public company dependent on the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interior, has launched a decisive commitment to the digitalization of its services and improvement of processes, which will result in the actions carried out together with the maritime cluster in order to be able to provide qualitative and quality information that is useful to Cádiz firms. for the development of its international activity.

 

It is an aspect included in the agreement that is in line with the new strategic line of extend of digital transformation and promotion with a geographical focus aimed at markets, through the use of business intelligence and big data, combined with knowledge and on-the-ground support from its external network. The objective is the creation of a map of business opportunities for Andalusian companies in the world, which contributes to increasing their foreign business.

 

The organization of this action by Extenda will be co-financed with funds from the European Union the PO FEDER of Andalusia 2014-2020, endowed with a community contribution of 80%, or any other European Program capable of co-financing this action.

In the past year 2020, Cádiz remained the leading province of Andalusia in exports of the naval industry, registering a growth of 36% compared to the previous year and reaching 3,2 million euros exported, with a positive trade balance of 60 thousand euros and a coverage rate of 102%, representing 29,2% of the Andalusian total, 11,1 million euros.

 

By products, boats and other floating devices were positioned in first place as the most exported, with 2,7 million euros, 84% of the total and an increase of 54% compared to the previous year; followed by machines and mechanical devices, with 213 thousand euros and 6,6% of the total, with a growth of 4,9%; and cordage articles, with 199 thousand euros and 6,1% of the total.

 

By destinations, Panama It positioned itself as the first importing country of the Cádiz naval industry, with 609 thousand euros and 18,8% of the total; followed by Gibraltar, with 501 thousand euros and 15,4%, with an increase of 23%; and of Morocco, with 179 thousand euros and 5,5%.

 

For its part, the Andalusian group reached 11,1 million euros in exports from the naval industry, also registering an increase of 32,8% compared to the data collected in 2019, and a positive trade balance with 5,1 million euros and a coverage rate of 183%. By provinces, Cadiz led, followed by Seville, with 2,8 million and 25,5% of the total, which also grows with 28,8%; of Huelva, with 2,1 million and 19,4%; and of Almeria, with 1,7 million and 15,9%, with an increase of 44%.
