Spain – Russia and India
The CEO of Extenda, Vanesa Bernad, and the president of Interaceituna, Ricardo Serra, have signed today a collaboration agreement that allows the development of promotional campaigns for table olives in two key markets for the Spanish sector. According to Interaceituna data, Spain is the world leader in the production and export of table olives, with Andalusia representing 80% of the sector.
Likewise, the total investment in these countries by both entities amounts to 800.000 euros, double that of 2015, with 65% of the investment allocated to the Russian market and the remaining 35% to India. Spanish olives are highly appreciated by consumers in these countries; in fact, more than 85% of the olives consumed in both markets come from Spain.
Specifically, table olive exports from Andalusia in the first eleven months of the year represented 76,4% of the national total with 505 million euros, 3,1% more than the previous year, followed far behind by the Community Valencian with 70,5 million (10,7%).
Andalusian exports from January to November 2015 are led by Seville with 380 million euros and 75,4% of the total and a growth of 4,6% in this period, followed in sales by Córdoba (98,4 million) and Malaga (18,8 million).
Regarding the main current markets of the sector, in first place is the United States (169 million), with a growth of 15% in these first eleven months of the year; It is followed by Italy (51 million) and Saudi Arabia (33 million), which increases by 19,3%. The fourth market is Germany, followed by France, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Russia, Canada and Poland, which closes the list of the first ten markets.
Andalusia's world leadership in table olives is supported by the activity of the 80 regular exporting companies that exist in the community, a number that has remained constant over the last five years, and which represents almost half of the turnover.There were 168 exporting companies in the community in 2014, which is 10,5% more than in 2013. Regular exporting firms account for 84% of the total value of Andalusian exports of this product.
As for Russia, it is the eighth market for the Andalusian sector with only 14 million euros, so it is an area where there is room for growth; Like India, which is the twenty-fifth market for Andalusia, with 2,2 million euros and a growth of 2014% compared to the first eleven months of 15.
