Extenda informs Andalusian agri-food companies about opportunities in Iran

The attending professionals have had the opportunity to learn in depth about the Iranian market, analyzing its business opportunities and operation through presentations and success stories of Andalusian companies currently operating in the market.


A total of eleven Andalusian companies of the food industry participated in the 'Technical conference on the agri-food market in Iran'Organized by the Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administration and Interiorthrough Extend.

 

Through this event, which has had the support of the Extenda Business Promotion Antenna  en Iran, the attending professionals have had the opportunity to learn in depth about the iranian market, analyzing their business opportunities and operation through presentations and success stories of Andalusian companies currently operating in the market.

 

Andalucía It is the third Spanish autonomous community in agri-food exports to Iran, with sales that in 2018 reached 4,8 million euros, which represents 15,1% of total national sales and a growth of 77% in the last decade (2009-2018).

 

During the day, the Extenda antenna in Iran, opened in 2017, and the actions to support the Andalusian companies that has been carried out to date, delving into the situation of the agri-food sector in Iran and its demand. Likewise, the economic department of the Embassy of Spain in Iran offered an analysis of the situation of the market and business opportunities.

Along with this, several companies with a presence in the Iranian market shared their experience with the participants, such as Leoprex, logistics expert in Iran, Fair trade, the signature of Germany, organized by the Iran Agro fair. At the end of the presentations, the companies held bilateral meetings with the speakers to delve deeper into topics of interest to them.

Opportunities in Iran

After the lifting of international sanctions and the country's reintegration into global markets, Iran is a highly attractive destination. It has a population close to 80 million inhabitants, the second largest in Middle East, and with a GDP per capita of 4.552 euros per year, which, in terms of purchasing power, represents a relative purchasing capacity twice as high.

On the other hand, Iran's food market is one of the most important in Middle East. In fact, the value of Spanish food and beverage exports to Iran during 2017 reached 28 million euros. The most exported products were canned vegetables, juices, pet food, olive oil and cocoa products.

Agri-food exports to Iran

Andalucía exported food and beverages to Iran worth 4,8 million in 2018, making it the third largest community in Spain en agri-food exports to Iran, with 15,1% of national sales. Exports have experienced a notable evolution in the last decade, when they have grown by 77%.

They follow them Jaen, with 309.000 euros, 6,5% of the total; and Huelva, with 134.000 euros, 2,8% of the total.
