Extenda receives an award from the Movex Foundation for its support of leather goods in the foreign market

In the last decade, the Andalusian leather goods sector has doubled its exports, going from selling 43 million euros in 2010 to 85 million in 2019.


 

La Movex Foundation recognized on January 21 the work of extend ’s relationship with the Special Board of Trustees Award, an award that recognizes public companies for his contribution to the development of the leather goods sector during countless years of joint work and the launch of multiple international actions, which have been of great impact and usefulness in this industry to achieve success in its exhibition and landing in the foreign markets. 

 

Thus, at an event held at the Skin Technology Center, the CEO of Extenda, Arturo bernal, received the distinction from the hands of Christopher Piña, president of the Movex Foundation, whom he thanked for the recognition made to the public company of the Junta de Andalucía, highlighting the work of Movex in bringing together the sector “by becoming its undisputed guide, not only in Cadiz, but throughout Andalusia, managing to double its exports in the last decade.”

 

Bernal also took advantage of this occasion to highlight the commitment and involvement of the companies in the sector based in the town of ubrique, “from where you have gained the courage to convert your workshops into business microspaces with the objective and ambition of growing with quality as a guide, to go further and further, enhancing and disseminating the traditional and artisanal essence that our brand has. Andalucía". 

 

In the last decade, the sector Andalusian leather goods has doubled its exports, going from selling 43 million euros in 2010 to 85 million in 2019. To support companies in their foreign growth, Extenda has planned over the years a program dedicated exclusively to the leather goods industry, in which has promoted traditional promotional actions, such as fairs, direct or reverse missions, in those markets considered as objectives for this sector, such as the European France, Italy, United Kingdom; or those from outside the EU, such as United States and United Arab Emirates.

 

At the same time, Extenda has also developed specific sector plans for this industry, which since the launch of the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) in Cádiz At the end of 2016, they have been strengthened and developed based on a closer relationship with the agents involved. In this way, the public company of the Junta de Andalucía has ensured to maintain a international promotion strategy effective over the years, to position the brand in foreign markets “Made in Ubrique” , the international quality seal.

 

Finally, Bernal announced that the new EInternationalization strategy of the Andalusian Economy 2021-2017 (EIEA 21-27) It will include lines of action for the future to support the promotion of the leather goods sector and its international growth. The EIAE 21-27 It has already closed its draft and is in the public exhibition phase for final approval in the coming months by the Government Council. From there, it will be the sole strategic planning instrument for all the policies of the Government of Andalusia in matters of promotion of internationalization.

 

On this occasion, the Movex Foundation also granted awards for Knowledge Transfer to Felix Sanchez, in personal category, and Institute of Employment and Socioeconomic and Technological Development (IEDT) from the Cadiz Provincial Council, in institutional category; and with the award for Promotion of Local Development, CADE Ubrique-Andalucía Emprende. 

 

Andalusia and leather goods abroad

 

In the last decade (2010-2019), the value of exports from the Andalusian leather goods sector has practically doubled (+98%), going from 43 million euros in 2010 to 85 million in 2019, reaching a trade surplus of 32 million and a coverage rate of 159% in this last year.

 

In turn, the province of Cadiz It remained the undisputed benchmark of this sector in our region, accumulating 83% of the community's total exports, with 68 million euros in 2019 and an increase of 187% compared to 2010, almost triple. 

 

With these data, in 2019 Andalucía It positioned itself as the fourth largest exporter community of leather goods, with 8% of the national total. The five countries that imported the most Andalusian leather goods products in the last year 2019 were, firstly, France, with 26 million euros and 31% of the total; Italy, with 18,2 million and 21%; United Kingdom, with 15,6 million and 18%; United States, with 4,8 million and 6%; and, fifthly, Bulgaria, with 2,2 million and 3%.
