Multilateral in Peru: Horizon 2023-2027
Extenda reports indicate that Peru has stood out for the continued growth of its economy in the last decade and presents an expansion above the Latin American average. Although poverty has been gradually reduced in recent years, the country still requires a concerted effort between different actors and the establishment of programs in different areas. Along these lines, the main multilateral organizations are providing support to Peru through their different strategies.
Thus, among the sectors where multilateral organizations currently have funded projects in Peru we find transportation, water and sanitation, urban development and housing, education, health, energy, environment and reform, agriculture and rural development and the modernization of the state, among others. These projects provide Andalusian service companies with business opportunities, and are also an easier and safer way than others to enter the Peruvian market.
In the case of Peru, The largest number of tenders in the country have corresponded to projects from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), followed by those of the United Nations and the World Bank. Specifically, in the first six months of 2022, a total of 205 tenders were published, of which those in the public and private administration, consulting, education, water, ICT and civil infrastructure sectors stand out.
The IDB has completed a total of 958 projects in Peru and the loans made to the country reached 1.679 million dollars. For its part, the World Bank is preparing a new framework for the period 2023-2027, after the completion of the previous one (2017-2021) that included investments worth more than $3.500 billion.
