FedEx expands its transatlantic air connection by strengthening the Liège-Memphis route.

 

This strategic move underlines the company's continued commitment to its presence in the region. Wallonia and the development of its intercontinental cargo center in Liège, an increasingly crucial node in its global operations.

 

Effective since April 28, the addition of this new flight increases the frequency of the route. Liège-Memphis five to eight weekly frequencies. For this operation, FedEx will employ a Boeing 777 Freighter, an aircraft with the capacity to carry up to 68,000 kilograms of cargo per flight.

The initial connection between Liège and Memphis was established in April 2017. Since then, FedEx has expanded its direct transatlantic offering from Liège with the addition of new routes to Indianapolis and Oakland. Together, these connections consolidate the importance of the Belgian hub as a key gateway between Europe and global markets.

FedEx has maintained an active presence in Liège since 1998, generating employment, driving investment and strengthening the position of Belgium within global supply chains.

 

FedEx currently has the largest number of employees at Liège Airport, with a team of 1,300 people, more than half of whom come from nearby communities. In the fourth quarter of 2024 alone, the company created 130 new jobs and contract increases at its Liège hub.
