Ferrovial has signed two new framework contracts with the European Agency Fusion for Energy (F4E) to develop the electrical and civil engineering works of the energy complex of the ITER, the largest international scientific project in the field of fusion energy, which is currently being built in France. These agreements reaffirm the company's position as a strategic partner within this innovative project, in which it will participate in two works with a total budget of 130,7 million euros.
Ferrovial, in collaboration with the company French Groupe SNEF, was ranked first among the two consortiums selected to complete the installation of the complex's auxiliary electrical system ITER Tokamak, the building that will house the particle accelerator. The electricity contract of 117,5 million euros will be divided into different work orders that F4E will attribute to the two selected consortia, within the framework of Item 21, lot 1 of the competition.
Ferrovial, in collaboration with the French company Groupe SNEF, was the first classified of the two consortia selected to complete the installation of the auxiliary electrical system of the ITER Tokamak complex
Ferrovial has been awarded the only work order for this lot published to date, and will be responsible for installing the wiring of the ITER galleries with a budget of 7 million euros. Future work orders will be directed, among other tasks, to the design, manufacture and supply of power cables, communications and charging centers, the development of fire protection systems and installation of electrical panels, as well as prefabricated electrical conduits .
On the other hand, the second framework agreement, TB22, aims to carry out the civil works necessary to complete the secondary construction works of the Tokamak complex. Once the assembly of the electromechanical installations and equipment necessary for the operation of the plant is completed, Ferrovial will be in charge of concreting and finishing equipping these spaces with the necessary infrastructure to complete the buildings. The contract signed through a 'cascade work order' model places Ferrovial as the preferred company to carry out this 13,2 million euro project.
With these new contracts, Ferrovial consolidates as a strategic collaborator of F4E, the EU Agency that manages European participation in ITER. Thus, the company reinforces its position in the energy sector and expands its presence and experience in the construction of spaces for nuclear fusion research.
