Ferrovial, a world leader in infrastructure, has announced a major £230m contract to design and build a 2,2km tunnel to house high voltage (400kV) cables as part of the modernisation of the UK's electricity grid. This project, awarded by National Grid, marks a milestone for Ferrovial as it is its first work for this client in the United Kingdom.
The project, which will run from early 2025 to the first quarter of 2029, is part of the « programThe Great Grid Upgrade"The largest electricity grid upgrade in the country in decades. Ferrovial, in consortium with BEMO, will be in charge of building the tunnel, which will also include two 35-meter-deep shafts and surface access points."
