Feria Valencia opened its doors from October 22nd to 25th for the 14th edition of the International Franchise Show, which this year debuted its new name, SIF&CO, bringing together franchises, business opportunities, and related businesses under one umbrella. This focus on these new exhibitors increased both the number and quality of visitors seeking to invest in new and attractive businesses.
SIF&CO kicked off its parallel activities with the prominent technical seminar "Franchising, Business Opportunities, and Associated Commerce." This seminar analyzed business expansion strategies through franchising, business opportunities, and how new EU regulations affect the franchise system. SIF&CO President Jaime de Ussía and AEF President Xavier Vallhornat opened the seminar by sharing their perspectives on the current state of franchising in Spain. Panelists included Alberto Aguelo, Managing Director of Franchise Help Spain; Manel Casabó, Managing Director of Franchisa; Eduardo Tormo, President of Tormo y Asociados; and Santiago Barbadillo, President of Barbadillo.
In general, all the speakers agreed that franchising is the most perfect business model, but that there is a lack of control by the Franchise Registry when it comes to not admitting franchises that do not meet the conditions or disabling those that, for various reasons, have stopped franchising.
Finally, the increased competition among all forms of associated commerce due to the globalization of business and the greater use of the Internet as a source of information was discussed.
