La Zaragoza company Funiglobal Development, dedicated to the online sale of costumes, party supplies and merchandising, has received the National SME of the Year Award 2018 organized by the Banco Santander and the Chamber of Commerce of Spain.
At the ceremony held at the headquarters of the Santander Bank Spain The national prizes for Internationalization have also been awarded to Nektium Pharma; Innovation and Digitalization, ex aequo to Industries José Luis Blanco and Nunsys, and Training and Employment to Urbegi Process and Manufacturing Engineering.
During the awards ceremony, the Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto, has pointed out that this award contributes to giving visibility to the SMEs, which constitute more than 99% of the Spanish productive fabric: “it is a recognition of the commitment of small and medium-sized companies that we already know but often remain in the background.” The minister highlighted that the finalist companies "represent the best of our production system, with a commitment to quality employment, providing training to their workers and willing to internationalize."
In his speech, the CEO of Santander Spain, Rami Aboukhair, He wanted to highlight the bank's commitment to the progress of companies and congratulated the winners and all the SMEs that "every day demonstrate their talent, drive and immense determination and play a fundamental role in wealth and job creation." Funiglobal Development It is a project that two young people from Huesca launched in 2011 to market, through the Internet, costumes, merchandising and party supplies. From Zaragoza, with meticulous logistics, they are able to deliver the orders placed by their clients in 32 countries and have a catalog of almost 40.000 references. They employ 50 people and their turnover has been doubling every year since the company was founded.

Nektium Pharma is dedicated to the research, development and production of active ingredients and its natural extracts contribute to maintaining health and improving the quality of life of human beings through nutrition.
El Digitalization and Innovation Accesit has been granted ex aequo to SMEs Industrias José Luis Blanco, from Valladolid, and Nunsys, from Valencia, a decision that aims to show that innovation reaches companies of all types. Nunsys is a company specialized in the implementation of comprehensive technology solutions combining technological products of systems, communications, digital transformation software, industry 4.0 and cybersecurity. They have 2.000 clients throughout Spain. La Valladolid Industries Jose Luis Blanco, for its part, is a metallurgical company dedicated to the manufacture of industrial machinery for churros, from machines for making churros to fillers and all types of accessories. They have been introducing new devices to adapt to the needs of their customers, which has allowed them to reach 91 countries: of the 900 machines they sell a year, only 300 remain in Spain.
Lastly, Urbegi Process and Manufacturing Engineering, from Vizcaya, has been recognized with the ATraining and Employment cess, a company dedicated to the manufacture of active parts of Ultra High, High, Medium and Low Voltage transformers. This Special Employment Center has a workforce in which more than 90% of the workers have some type of disability. Its objective is the generation of employment for people from vulnerable groups, with special emphasis on the remuneration aspect as a measure to normalize their situation.
SME of the Year Award
El SME of the Year Award is summoned by the Chamber of Commerce of Spain and Banco Santander with the aim of recognizing the performance of small and medium-sized Spanish companies, whose activity is essential for the creation of employment and wealth at the local level.
582 companies from all over Spain have submitted their candidacy in this second edition of the Award, in which 161 companies have been awarded. The award has been announced in all the Spanish provinces and 39 territorial Chambers of Commerce, the territorial Delegations of the Banco Santander and the main local press titles.
