Galañena, Head of Foreign Trade: "Exports increased by 25% up to June."

The century-old Navarre Chamber of Commerce and Industry represents and promotes the interests of commerce, industry and services, with the aim of contributing to the economic development of this community.

The Navarre Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports that export activity among Navarrese companies has regained momentum in 2003, registering a 25% increase through June. "It's worth remembering that Navarre is one of Spain's leading exporting regions, with exports representing 37,3% of its gross domestic product," explains Ignacio Galañena, Head of Foreign Trade and Cooperation at the Chamber.

According to the entity's objectives and the demand of Navarrese companies, the actions contemplated in the Chamber Plan for Export Promotion and the Plan for Internationalization of Navarrese Companies are planned, which are mainly based on increasing the export supply, diversifying markets, developing new export sectors and supporting the establishment and investment abroad.

Galañena points out that "a special effort is recommended in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in the EU enlargement countries; in Asia and the United States, without forgetting the countries of Latin America."

The Chamber offers companies information and advisory services, as well as training on matters necessary to address their internationalization.

According to the head of Foreign Trade, "we differentiate ourselves from other Chambers in the development of promotional programs, for which we have the collaboration of the Government of Navarre, which subsidizes companies 50% of the cost."

These programs are developed through business promoters located in other countries and part-time export managers, who act as if they were company staff, providing all the information related to the area of international trade.
