Gamesa sells four wind farms in the United States for 266 million

Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica has finalized the sale of four wind farms in the United States to Babcock & Brown for approximately 266 million euros (345 million dollars), after obtaining authorization from the Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC), as reported by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
The operation was announced on November 23 by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), and the sale was formalized last week.
The group has finalized this agreement through its subsidiaries in Spain (Gamesa Energía) and the United States (Gamesa Energy) to sell to Babcock & Brown the shares owned by Gamesa in four companies that own these wind farms, located in Cambria and Blair Counties, Pennsylvania, and Lee County, Illinois. In total, the four wind farms have an installed capacity of 231,66 megawatts (MW).
The operation consolidates Gamesa's position in the United States, one of the Spanish firm's priority markets in its international expansion process.
Seven new production centers
With a portfolio of over 20.000 megawatts of wind power under development in Europe, America, and Asia, and offices in 13 countries, Gamesa has established itself as one of the world's leading companies in the development and promotion of wind farms. Furthermore, it ranks among the world's top wind turbine manufacturers, holding a 13% market share in 2005, according to company sources.
In 2005, Gamesa's renewable energy activities generated €1.745 billion in revenue with 3.700 employees. This year, the company has opened seven new production facilities with a total investment of over €104 million: two in Spain, four in the United States, and one in China.
