GDELS awarded multi-million-dollar contract to modernize the German Army's communications network with PIRANHA 5 vehicles

 

El German Army has taken a significant step towards modernizing its communications infrastructure by awarding General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) a contract for the acquisition of up to 256 vehicles PIRANHA 5These cutting-edge vehicles, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will serve as secure, mobile communication nodes for the military’s TaWAN network.

 

The initial contract provides for the delivery of 58 PIRANHA 5 vehicles, with an estimated value of several million euros. The first production vehicles are expected to be delivered in 2026, marking the beginning of a new era in the German military communications.

 

GDELS, in collaboration with the German defense company Rheinmetall, acting as the main contractor for the project, will be responsible for manufacturing and delivering the vehicles. The PIRANHA 5, renowned for its versatility and robustness, will be adapted to meet the specific requirements of the TaWAN project.

 

One of the outstanding features of the PIRANHA 5 is its 15-metre telescopic mast system, which will allow for establishing long-range communication links quickly and efficiently. This system will provide a crucial tactical advantage to the German Army, allowing it to maintain fluid and secure communication on the battlefield.

 

 

This contract represents an important milestone in the modernization of the German Army and strengthens GDELS' position as a leading provider of ground defense solutions.

 

 

 

To ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the PIRANHA 5 vehicles, GDELS will establish a logistics support center in Neubrandenburg, GermanyThis centre will be responsible for providing technical and logistical support throughout the life cycle of the vehicles, ensuring their operational availability at all times.
