Gestamp enters Romania

Expands its perimeter with a new country

The Group acquires a plant in the vicinity of the town of Pitești, the country's main automotive hub.


[Img # 22205]Gestamp, a Spanish multinational specialized in the design, development and manufacturing of components for the automotive, has announced its entry into Romania, through the majority purchase of a Romanian company that owns a plant whose main client is Renault-Nissan Group through its subsidiary Dacia.

 

The company, located in the vicinity of (RO) PiteştiThe country's main automotive hub has more than 200 employees and had a turnover of 17 million euros in 2016. Gestamp has made the acquisition through its Turkish subsidiary, Beyçelik Gestamp.

 

The Romanian plant currently supplies small and medium-sized stamped components, as well as their assemblies. Gestamp's objective is to increase the facility's revenue by manufacturing components with increasingly higher added value. Through this acquisition, Gestamp will be able to support two of its global customers, the Renault-Nissan Group and Ford, which have been operating in Romania for years.

 

Gestamp adds with Romania Gestamp has added a new country to its production network. This brings its current operations to 21 countries. Eight out of every ten vehicles produced worldwide each year are manufactured in the markets where Gestamp has production facilities.

 

 

A reinforcement for the strategic relationship with Renault and Ford

 

 

In the world ranking, Romania is the 27th country in vehicle manufacturing, with an annual production of 387.000 vehicles per year, from the Dacia and Ford brands, both of which have plants in the country.

 

 In this sense, the president and CEO of Gestamp, Francisco J. This acquisition serves to strengthen the strategic relationship with two global clients of Gestamp, Renault and Ford, with whom the group maintains numerous projects in different parts of the world.
