El European GNSS Service Centre (GSC), based at the INTA facilities in Torrejón de Ardoz, will be responsible for generating and transmitting the authentication messages to the ground mission segment of Galileo. The OSNMA, together with the High Precision Service (Galileo HAS), emerges as one of the most important value-added services of the Galileo constellation, offering a notable competitive advantage compared to other satellite navigation systems such as GPS or GLONASS.
During years, GMV and INDRA have collaborated closely with EUSPA in the development of the GSC infrastructure, which has included the software updates required for the provision of the OSNMA service. It is important to note that GMV has also been responsible for the development of the high-precision service generation infrastructure. Traditionally, satellite positioning systems transmit their signals and data openly, lacking mechanisms to verify their authenticity. The newly launched OSNMA service addresses this problem by cryptographically protect data transmitted by Galileo, which guarantees the safe use of the system in this type of application. Users will be able to verify that the navigation data received is genuinely from the Galileo system and has not been falsified or manipulated, increasing the system's value and reliability for its users.
GMV has played a decisive role in the definition and development of the new OSNMA service, which places Galileo at the forefront of global satellite navigation systems.
