GMV to modernize public transportation technology on 325 buses in Westchester County, New York

County of Westchester, home to more than a million people, has selected GMV to update its public transportation technology platform.

 

In this project GMV will deploy U.S. the new ecosystem of ITS products for public transport, GMV Hub (EP200) and ITS Suite, which it has been developing in recent years for the European market and which it has successfully deployed in ATM Barcelona, ​​Xunta de Galicia, Granada or Baix Llobregat.

 

GMV will install in each bus of the Bee-Line GMV Hub technology, a robust on-board computer designed and manufactured by GMV specifically for public transport systems and that guarantees solid performance and long life. GMV Hub uses an open architecture to control on-board systems such as GPS, the bus operator's touch screen, automatic passenger counters, next stop announcements and a specific sensor for precise tracking in indoor depots. GMV Hub also works as a digital video recorder (DVR) in order to store images from the security cameras on each bus. In conclusion, it is a complete multifunction device that significantly reduces the project's equipment cost and will offer great value to the New York county.

 

The contract, worth $16 million, and the new GMV office will consolidate the company's presence in the New York metropolitan area

 

 

ITS Suite is a GMV cloud-native software offering a suite of applications from GMV and its partners, intended to improve the visibility and control that Westchester County currently has over its bus operations. Each of the applications focuses on a key function and all of them are integrated to allow real-time data exchange:  

 

Planning and scheduling software generates optimized sets of routes and schedules to serve customers as efficiently as possible and reduce operating costs. 

 

Dispatch software allows control center staff to monitor the entire fleet and quickly take action to keep buses moving.  

 

The management software Depot organizes bus movements within depots to ensure vehicles are ready for service.

 

Video management software allows you to remotely and live view bus cameras, as well as play and securely store video evidence.

 

GMV promotes interoperability, a philosophy that allows it to offer the best third-party products in a single and coordinated solution. A modern technical architecture based on cloud computing, microservices and application programming interfaces (APIs) make this collaboration possible. Furthermore, GMV's project management capacity guarantees the success of the final product.  

 

GMV's continued expansion in the United States includes the opening of an office in New York to support Westchester County and other East Coast clients.
