Gran Canaria and Hainan explore strategic ties toward a future of global cooperation

An institutional delegation from the Chinese island of Hainan met with the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, Luis Padrón, and the vice president and president of the Tourism Commission of the chamber institution, Santiago de Armas, with the firm intention of establishing various lines of cooperation between both island territories.

During the productive meeting, joint opportunities were discussed in sectors considered strategic for both regions: innovation, port activity, and tourism.

Luis Padrón highlighted the remarkable potential of Hainan, an island that aspires to become the largest free trade zone in the world and is home to more than 10 million inhabitants.

In his statements, Padrón emphasized the shared strategic vision between the two islands. “We are islands with a clear international vocation, with economies open to the world"A strong port focus and a firm commitment to innovation and tourism," asserted the Chamber's president. He also emphasized the chamber's fundamental role as a link between the business community and public administrations.

This approach is part of the internationalization strategy promoted by the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, which actively seeks to create synergies with regions that present significant growth potential and share similar characteristics, such as the Chinese island of Hainan.
