Great success of the Canal Multiprecio Madrid Show

The second edition of the Madrid Multiprice Channel Show took place from May 30 to June 1, 2003 at the Juan Carlos I Exhibition Park in Madrid.

Manuel Garrido de la Cierva, Deputy Minister of Economy and Technological Innovation, and Concepción Guerra, Director General of Commerce of the Community of Madrid, were in charge of inaugurating this fair that showcases new proposals aimed at stores selling fixed-price items.

This innovative event was visited by 4.312 professionals, a figure that represented an increase of 10,5% compared to its first edition.

The 272 participating exhibitors expressed their satisfaction with the increase in business volume during the fair. The event also showcased the offerings of 82 represented companies and a total of 224 brands.

Another significant finding was the presence of international buyers from 47 countries. The main participating countries were Portugal, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, although the presence of professionals from Northern and Eastern Europe, Greece, Croatia, and Morocco was also noteworthy.

This success in international presence has been achieved thanks to the "International Buyers Program" initiative, through which 51 buyers from 23 countries with proven purchasing power were invited.

As for national buyers, visitors were registered from all Autonomous Communities, with a majority presence from the Community of Madrid (25%), Andalusia (8,63%), Valencia (8,39%), Catalonia (6,94%) and Castile and León (6,22%).

By sector, retail trade, at 36,79%, and wholesale trade, at 29,14% of the total, were the most prevalent throughout the event. Large stores were also present, representing 5,52%.

Among the most attractive sectors of this edition are stationery, decoration, toys, gift items, household goods and flowers.

The boom in the multi-price sector in our country generates 1.800 billion euros a year, a figure that shows the strength and power of this industry that has based its success on volume sales and the speed to adapt to the tastes and needs of the consumer.

The Canal Multiprecio Madrid Trade Fair, which has become the most important event in Europe for fixed-price stores, will hold its third edition from May 28 to 30, 2004, at the Juan Carlos I Trade Fair Park.
