Great success of Exporta 2001

As co-organizers, the Consorci de Promoció Comercial de Catalunya (COPCA) was delighted that the second edition of the Export Services Fair, Exporta 2001, was held in Barcelona, especially considering the contribution of Catalonia and Catalan companies to the internationalization of the Spanish economy. It is important to highlight Catalonia's international focus; Catalan exports represent 27% of Spanish exports, with a value of 5,5 trillion pesetas (33.055.665.741,11 EUR) in 2000.
On the other hand, it should also be noted that Exporta 2001 has reaffirmed the commitment between the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) and COPCA itself to develop projects that benefit the external presence of companies and, at the same time, has contributed to strengthening the role of the Barcelona International Fair as a fundamental instrument of the internationalization process.
At COPCA, we highly value the results achieved. Exporta 2001 has established itself as a key meeting point for all the agents and companies involved in the internationalization process; this was demonstrated by the 130 exhibitors from 30 different sectors, including financial services companies, e-business and e-commerce firms, marketing consultants, and institutions related to international trade, all of whom expressed their satisfaction with their participation in the event. It is worth highlighting the record attendance at Exporta 2001, which exceeded 8.000 professional visitors.
Among the parallel activities, the 100 workshops organized on topics related to international trade have constituted a genuine forum for the exchange of experiences, with the attendance of 5.300 people.
At COPCA, we took advantage of this opportunity to hold one of our most important events: the 7th Meeting of Business Promotion Centers. Company participation in these meetings has always been very positive, with 1700 companies participating and 4300 meetings conducted since 1994. The 7th Meeting allowed nearly 300 companies to hold approximately 700 individual meetings with the directors of COPCA's 36 Business Promotion Centers worldwide, to jointly study the feasibility of their internationalization projects. The most requested centers were: Mexico City, Stuttgart, Lyon, Buenos Aires, Miami, Berlin, Santiago, Prague, New York, and São Paulo.
Since 1.988, the services of the COPCA Business Promotion Centres have advised nearly 2.200 companies and business associations and have developed almost 5.400 individual internationalization projects, both for industrial and commercial companies as well as for services.
The services offered by our centers range from analyzing the most suitable entry channel for entering new markets to studying the realignment or consolidation of strategies for companies already operating internationally. These services are guaranteed by ISO 9001 Quality Management.
In parallel with the celebration of the VII Meeting of Business Promotion Centers, during the celebration of Exporta 2001 we have received at our stand a large influx of requests for information on COPCA's services to promote the internationalization of the company; services aimed both at companies that wish to start in export activity and at those that seek to consolidate their internationalization.
