El DHL Group has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the Turkish parcel delivery company MNG Kargo Yurtiçi ve Yurtdışı Taşımacılık A.Ş. (MNG Kargo) and its subsidiaries. MNG Kargo is one of the leading parcel delivery companies in Türkiye, where the parcel market and E-commerce is growing rapidly. In addition to securing a leading position in this strongly developing national parcel market, this acquisition will create additional synergies for the DHL Group and its customers will benefit from unique logistics offerings within Turkey, as well as cross-border, through the collaboration of the various divisions of DHL, already present in Türkiye.

"Together with sustainability, globalization and digitalization, we identified e-commerce as a mega trend in logistics and therefore made it a focus area in our DHL Group Strategy 2025 "in recent years," he says Tobias Meyer, CEO of the DHL Group"E-commerce remains one of the biggest growth drivers for logistics services, especially for parcel delivery volumes. Therefore, we are continuously working to expand our presence in the e-commerce sector, whether through organic or inorganic growth." MNG Kargo It complements our business portfolio and will help to further strengthen our position in this sector."

For DHL eCommerce, the newly acquired parcel network, with 27 half-mile sortation centers and more than 800 last-mile branches in all relevant cities of Türkiye, is a perfect complement to the European parcel network and, therefore, becomes part of the business unit. Mainly driven by a young and dynamic population with a high affinity for digital communication, the e-commerce market in Turkey is expected to experience double-digit growth in the coming years, significantly higher than in the markets of the UE. By combining the network and digital expertise of DHL eCommerce with the local footprint of MNG Cargo, the DHL Group will be perfectly placed to benefit from the enormous growth potential of the Turkish market.

E-commerce is one of the focus areas of DHL Group's Strategy 2025 to strengthen profitable core and ensure long-term growth

"Our aspiration at DHL eCommerce is to provide our customers with reliable, affordable, and sustainable e-commerce delivery services," he says. Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL eCommerce"The backbone of this is our extensive network, operated by us or through collaborations, and our digital expertise and capabilities. The acquisition of MNG Kargo will strengthen our network and help us connect our customers with the Turkish market, and vice versa."

Among others, Turkey benefits from manufacturers' efforts to establish a more resilient supply chain and already has a strong manufacturing base, such as the e-commerce-driven textile industry. DHL Express inaugurated a new and modern operations center at the airport in 2021. Istanbul and recently, DHL Global Forwarding announced that it would intensify its cooperation with Turkish Cargo. Even though MNG Kargo becomes part of DHL eCommerce, all DHL divisions and their customers will benefit from the synergies of the newly acquired company. MNG Kargo, in turn, will benefit from the international logistics experience of the DHL Group and its extensive global network.

The transaction is subject to merger control clearance by the Turkish Competition Authority, as well as approval by the Turkish Information and Communications Technology Authority.
