HEINEKEN boosts the Spanish economy with a contribution of 5.000 million Euros

 

HEINEKEN Spain, known for its iconic brands such as Heineken®, Cruzcampo, Amstel and El Águila, has proven to be a fundamental pillar for the Spanish economy by contributing 4.837 million euros to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the year 2023. This value represents the 0,3% of the national GDP, consolidating the company as a key player in the European and global beer sector.

 

The report details that the activity generated by HEINEKEN contributes more than 85.000 jobs, approximately 70% of them concentrated in the food and hospitality sectors. In addition, its investment policy stands out with almost 190 million euros ofallocated to fixed assets and 30 million to sustainable and social initiatives in the last three years.

 

Etienne Strijp, president of HEINEKEN Spain, stressed: “At HEINEKEN Spain we are proud to be able to contribute to the national and local economy by focusing on innovation and sustainability.”

 

The brewery has also had a notable impact on Andalucía, where its contribution to the regional GDP amounts to more than 1.890 million euros, equivalent to 0,9% of the Andalusian GDP, in addition to generating more than 38.000 jobs.

 

In environmental terms, HEINEKEN Spain is moving towards net zero emissions by 2025 with its factories operating exclusively with renewable energy. By 2023, it had already reduced its carbon footprint in production by 43% rcompared to 2018.

 

This analysis reflects not only the economic but also the social and environmental commitment that HEINEKEN has maintained with Spain for more than 120 years, being a key piece for the sustainable development of the country.
