Iberdrola expands its presence in the United Kingdom

 

This strategic transaction consolidates Iberdrola's position as the second-largest distribution network operator in the country, strengthening its commitment to the modernization of the British energy system.

 

The recent CMA approval marks a significant milestone in the Iberdrola's expansion strategy in the United KingdomThe acquisition of ENW, a key operator in electricity distribution, allows the Spanish company to strengthen its presence in a strategic market, aligning with its focus on countries with strong credit ratings.

 

With this operation, Iberdrola, through Scottish Power, expands its reach to supply electricity to approximately 12 million people, through an extensive network that exceeds 170.000 kilometers. This increase in distribution network infrastructure positions the company to play a key role in the energy transition of the world. In addition to our current assets, valued at more than £30.000 billion, our plans in the country aim to invest another £30.000 billion by the end of the decade, two-thirds in transmission and distribution networks and one-third in renewable energy, primarily offshore wind. These investments will generate significant jobs and benefits for the economy and the country's supply chain,” he stated.
