“Expand your e-commerce in a new world”
Marketplaces Connection emerges as a meeting point between sellers and marketplaces from around the world, with the aim of increasing the use of these platforms by Spanish companies so that they can take advantage of all the advantages and international potential they offer.
Between 2015 and 2019, the business volume of Spanish companies that export through e-commerce multiplied by two, reaching 931 million euros in turnover. In 2019 alone, business volume grew by 42% compared to the previous year. This increase is a consequence of the consolidation of electronic markets for the purchase and sale of products that, together with better financial and logistical management, allow foreign buyers to purchase products from national companies. Furthermore, the recent health emergency created by the COVID-XNUMX pandemic COVID-19 has accelerated the digitalization process of companies and consumers, increasingly accustomed to selling and buying online.
In this context, Marketplaces Connection emerges as a meeting point between sellers and marketplaces from around the world, with the aim of increasing the use of these platforms by Spanish companies so that they can take advantage of all the advantages and international potential they offer.
Today was the first edition of this meeting, which was named “Expand your e-commerce in a new world”, in 100% virtual format. It has had the presence of a dozen marketplaces with a clear global profile, such as Amazon, Aliexpress, eBay and other platforms, which have deciphered the keys with which to increase sales through e-commerce. The event has had the participation of auxiliary companies necessary to manage international sales operations, such as consulting, logistics, payments, among others.
This initiative is the result of the collaboration of ICEX, Spain Export and Investment, national public business entity whose mission is to promote the internationalization of Spanish companies and the promotion of foreign investment with Correos, a leading logistics operator in Spain and one of the main parcel operators, especially in the e-mail sector. commerce; and Payoneer, a leading global payments company, enabling millions of businesses and professionals in more than 200 countries to grow globally by facilitating cross-border payments.
The event has been developed through an online platform where users have been able to follow the interventions of the different speakers and the discussions of the panels, which have been structured into three large blocks: one dedicated to the challenges and opportunities for internationalization, led by ICEX; a second block related to how to solve logistical issues, with Correos as moderator; and a third block, led by Payoneer and focused on other relevant aspects such as the management of payment methods.
At the same time, virtual exhibition rooms have been created where attendees have been able to learn about the international offer of marketplaces, the most demanded categories and the registration conditions. Attendees have been able to request individual meetings with the marketplaces and other participating companies throughout the day in order to ask any questions.
