ICEX, the Port of Vigo, and the Galician Logistics Cluster promote Logistics 4.0 for business internationalization.

 

The event, which brought together 46 companies from various sectors, focused on the adoption of innovative solutions in transportation, inventory management, warehouse automation, and last-mile distribution. This initiative responds to the growing need for companies to adapt to disruptions in global logistics chains, intensified by the pandemic and recent geopolitical challenges.

 

The day, held at the Vigo Port Authority Sessions Building, is part of a series of traveling events organized by ICEX - Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade at different strategic points in Spain. This meeting represents the fifth session, continuing the cycle initiated in Madrid, Algeciras, Valencia and Zaragoza.

Galician companies can improve their competitiveness by adopting new technologies in their transportation, intelligent inventory management, warehouse automation, and last-mile distribution.

 

 

For its part, Covadonga Toca, General Director of IGAPE, also present at the inauguration, highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration for the economic development of Galicia.

 

Martha Valero, Director of Infrastructure and Industrial Technologies at ICEX, closed the day, emphasizing the need for companies to take advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies to optimize their supply chains.

 

During the day, the participating companies had the opportunity to exchange experiences and strategies on the incorporation of disruptive technologies and their impact on the efficiency of the supply chainsTopics covered included process digitalization, artificial intelligence applied to logistics, and sustainability in transportation.

 

This event is part of ICEX's strategy to strengthen the internationalization of the logistics and supply chain sector, responding to the needs of companies that see ICEX as a strategic partner in their process of international expantion.

 

The Port of Vigo, a fundamental pillar of the Galician economy, has experienced significant growth in freight throughput. In 2024, it reached a record figure of nearly 5,7 million tons, 18% more than in 2023. This growth has been driven primarily by the automotive and fishing sectors, with record-breaking movements of vehicles and fishery products.
