ICEX: "We want companies to consolidate their presence abroad"

This morning, the "Internationalization Dialogues" were held, where Francisco Javier Garzón, CEO of ICEX Spain Export and Investment, was the guest of honor.

During her speech at the Internationalization Dialogues Forum, organized by MOdE, with the sponsorship of DHL y MasterCard, he highlighted that after the positive results regarding exportsWith a cumulative growth of 45% over the last five years, the country continues to grow significantly.

"This is a structural change in the behavior of our external sector. There has been a significant shift not only in the trade balance and the balance of goods and services but also in the behavior of our current account balance. We have already had two consecutive years of surplus and forecasts indicate that we will have one this year as well."

The executive explained, regarding the exchange rate, that the initial competitiveness trends are evident, but that it shouldn't be forgotten that the best-performing countries in this first quarter have been European nations. The advisor elaborated on the idea that ICEX works for businesses and that the budget cuts are helping them reinvent themselves. They are a service agency, and the crisis has allowed them to become more efficient and deliver value to companies.

Garzón also insisted that holding early elections in Catalonia on September 27 will not harm exports or attract new investment. “Most businesspeople and investors focus on opportunities, and at ICEX we are not seeing excessive concern about what might happen in Catalonia.”
