The objective is to improve performance, increase the safety and reliability of the facilities, and contribute to greater regularity of circulation.

The works, which will be carried out by the company Tecsa Construction Company, will cover the renewal of rails, sleepers and ballast on 15 tracks, including 3 reception and dispatch tracks, 3 storage tracks for motor material and supplies, and 9 tracks of the management beam.

In addition, the quality of type A detours will be improved with the replacement of sleepers, crossings and switches, which will increase accessibility and optimize inter-track passages.

The Huelva freight transport terminal is located at a key point in the railway network, where the conventional gauge lines branch. Seville-Huelva and Zafra-Huelva. In 2023, the terminal handled a total of 1.586 trains.

The site occupies an area of approximately 25 hectares and has a track pool of 22 tracks, with lengths ranging between 532 and 1.484 meters.

The renewal of the Huelva terminal infrastructure is part of Adif's commitment to sustainable development and contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9, which seeks to develop reliable, sustainable, resilient and quality infrastructure.

The action has the possibility of being co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
