Indra wins an air traffic contract in Uganda for €6,6 million

Indra signed a contract with the Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to implement an air traffic control and surveillance system at Entebbe Airport, the country's main airport, for a total of €6,6 million. This is the company's first contract in this African country.
Indra's bid was the winner in an international competition, in which one of the fundamental requirements was the tight delivery deadline, since the systems must be operational for the biannual meeting of Commonwealth heads of government that will take place in November of this year in Kampala, the country's capital, and which will be attended by the Queen of England.
The systems will be implemented at Entebbe Airport, enabling Uganda's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to provide air traffic control services with the highest levels of safety and efficiency. Specifically, the project includes the control center and a Mode S secondary radar system, which improves aircraft detection and identification, increases capacity (more flights), and enhances efficiency by allowing controllers to obtain individual aircraft identification, maximum altitude accuracy, and other data, such as flight dynamics information.
The control center will have four positions: two for en-route control (ACC) and two for approach to Entebbe International Airport. The project also includes the delivery of an ATC simulator for training Ugandan air traffic controllers.
