Indra has modernized the ocean air traffic control center of the Island of Sal and the control towers of Santiago, Boa Vista, São Vicente and Sal with cutting-edge technology, which allows the National Airport and Air Safety Company (ASA) manage greater volumes of traffic with levels of safety and efficiency that exceed international standards. 

 

The Prime Minister of Cape Verde, José Ulisses Correia e Silva, was in charge of inaugurating the new facilities in an event that took place on Friday, July 7 and was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Transport, Carlos Jorge Duarte Santos, the Secretary of State for Finance, Dr. Alcindo Hemitério da Cruz Mota, the president of the Salt Chamber, Dr. Julio Lopesel, the president of the Airports and Air Safety Administration Council, Jorge Benchimol Duarte, the Spanish ambassador in Cape Verde, Ana Paredes Prieto, and the ATM Commercial Director of Indra, Enrique Castillo. 

 

The Indra manager stated that “it is, without a doubt, a key milestone for global air navigation, given that the Sal Island ocean control center is the last point of contact for aircraft crossing the Atlantic and the renewal of its systems will have an immediate impact on the punctuality of operations at airports in America, Europe and Africa".

 

The oceanic air control center, like the country's main airports, already has Indra's ManagAir system, one of the most advanced air traffic automation solutions that exist and which has been designed to reduce the workload of controllers and facilitate interoperability with other control centers, so that management is much more agile and secure. 

 

 

The country's navigation services provider, ASA, will operate with Indra's ManagAir system, a state-of-the-art solution designed to respond to the challenges of the sector

 

The company has also implemented in the oceanic air control center one of the most advanced voice over IP communications networks that exist, based on the latest version of the well-known solution. Garex from Indra, which facilitates both the ground-ground link between control centers and ground-air. It is the only fully digitalized solution currently on the market, ensuring maximum sound quality and the ability to scale the network and continue growing in the future. 

 

SO has also wanted to reinforce the training of its controllers and technical staff and has entrusted Indra with the preparation of more than fifty of its professionals, who have undergone an extensive training program of several months with the aim of raising their level of excellence to the maximum. The company has also implemented a control position in the Sal Island ocean control center equipped with a simulation environment in which to continue this training and be able to validate any new software version before it is put into service.
