The general director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce pointed out that Senegal “has become a very important commercial partner for Spain in Africa. Between 2010 and 2022 our bilateral trade has more than quadrupled.”

The CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, Inmaculada Riera, has highlighted the “strategic nature” of Senegal in the commercial relations of Spain in Africa during the inauguration of the business meeting between both countries held at the headquarters of the Chamber of Spain.
“We seek to support a growing and solid Spanish presence in the region that is mutually beneficial and that has a growing interest from SMEs,” stated Riera, who also highlighted the strategic nature of Senegal, a nation that “has become a very important commercial partner for Spain in Africa. Between 2010 and 2022 our bilateral trade has more than quadrupled.” The general director has also stated that Senegal “is a dynamic economy and a benchmark for political and governance stability in sub-Saharan Africa".
Nearly 3.000 Spanish companies have exported to Senegal and up to 100 Spanish companies have subsidiaries in that country.
For its part, Mariame SY, ambassador of Senegal in Spain, has assured that Spain “is Senegal's second client in sub-Saharan Africa”, only behind South Africa. "Nearly 3.000 Spanish companies have exported to Senegal and up to 100 Spanish companies have subsidiaries in Senegal, in sectors such as agriculture, housing, energy or tourism," he stressed. Likewise, he also highlighted that this meeting "marks the beginning of a good relationship to develop our commercial relations for the mutual benefit of Senegal and Spain." An event in which “Spanish companies will share their experience investing in Senegal and encourage others to do so,” he concluded.
Finally, the general director of international trade and investments of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism, Alicia Varela, has defined Senegal as “a priority country for Spain with a promising future.”
They were also present at the event Abdoulaye BALDÉ, CEO of APIX SA; Souleymane NDIAYE, CEO of SAPCO and Abdoulaye DIEYE, CEO of AIBD. The business meeting ended with a discussion where Pablo Marco Gardoqui, president of SEPIOL & Senegal Mines SA; Eduardo Mesegue, director of legal and institutional affairs at GB Foods and Rafael Rodriguez, president of CAPTOURS, have presented their experiences as Spanish businessmen in Senegal.
