The agreement includes greater investment in R&D aimed at acquiring technology
Ultrafan engines are the next generation of engines for the aeronautical sector that Rolls-Royce is working on and whose entry into service is scheduled for 2025.
The company Turbo Propulsors Industry (ITP) and the aeronautical manufacturer Rolls-Royce have signed a collaboration agreement by which the Basque company becomes the supplier of its low pressure turbines – conventional turbines – and its new high-speed turbines for the new generation Ultrafan engines.
Ultrafan engines are the next generation of engines for the aeronautical sector that Rolls-Royce is working on and whose entry into service is planned from 2025.
One of the consequences of the agreement is increased investment in R&D aimed at acquiring technology . ITP currently anticipates a total investment exceeding €75 million over the next five years.
The agreement comes after ITP demonstrated its capabilities in the sector with the design and development of low-pressure turbines for all engines in the Trent family, which equip the Airbus A330, A340, A380, A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft.
The ITP Group, owned by Sener (53,125%) and Rolls-Royce (46,875%), includes among its activities the design, research and manufacture of aeronautical engines and gas turbines. It also has 17 production centres in Spain, Great Britain, Malta, the United States, India and Mexico.
